The Sharing Resources workshop is part of the Survival of the Fittest workshop series, hosted and delivered by Voluntary Services Surrey Heath.

"Sharing Resources" is aimed at getting the best from sharing information; skills and equipment. The workshops are free for local community and voluntary organisations.

The meeting will open with an introduction to our guest speaker. This presentation will be followed by the AGM. After the AGM you will have the chance to question your local councillors and the Surrey Heath MP. This an opportuity to join in an open forum and socialise with friends and neighbours.

Our featured guest speaker is Ms. Emma Greenwood who will give a presentation on "Adapting to Climate Change" Ms Greenwood has a Master of Science from the Centre for Alternative Technology in Wales which is Europe’s largest eco centre. She is presently a consultant to the building industry on how to design healthy homes and workplaces and also on adapting to climate change and the increased use of renewable energy technologies.

Ms. Greenwoods presentation will cover the following:

  • - Brief explanation of Climate Change and Increasing Fuel Costs due to "Peak Oil".
  • - Ask the audience what they know? How they feel about the subject?
  • - What is a Carbon footprint?
  • - What that means to each individual and household.
  • - Small lifestyle changes - Local/Organic Food, Holidays, Low Energy, Shade not Air Con, Electricity Suppliers, Compost, Recycling
  • - Bigger Commitments - Insulation, Double Glazing, Renewable Energies
  • - Community action - Transition Villages/Towns and Cities
Conclusion: Do your fair share and work for a healthier "common sense" future. Lets have fun, not fear!

A fun day out for all the family

Become a part of your community and visit or take part in the all NEW Surrey Heath Show at Frimley Lodge Park on Saturday 3rd May, a fun day with lots of activities and events for all the family.

There'll be plenty of bouncing for children, demonstrations and exhibitions, live music, competitions, crafts, animals and a companion dog show.

Frimley Lodge Park has lots of open space, and the Basingstoke Canal runs alongside it. It is the ideal venue for the show where there will be plenty to do and see with plenty of activities for young and old. There will be arts and crafts, demonstrations, a mega slide, exhibitions and other trade stands. Millers Ark with animals to cuddle and a Companion Dog Show. the miniature railway will be running or perhaps you prefer a canal boat ride. There will also be a diverse range of food available on the day.
